Hotel Du Vin
BRIGHTON • UNITED KINGDOM
Suited was asked to design a new look for Hotel du Vin Bistro, which will appeal to the younger generation of HdV devotees while still maintaining the DNA of the hotel’s brand.
An extensive and in depth analysis of food trends in the Bistro scene led us to the current French trend of Bistronomy, which uses the classics of French haute cuisine and mixes them with a raw and casual approach to food presentation and service. The design of the new Bistro reflects the values of Bistronomy and uses a mix of the classic and the elegant with the raw.
The palette is light and fresh to be responsive to the seaside environment while still using classic Bistro elements such as globe wall lights, cafe curtains and antique mirror menus. Timber and terrazzo flooring expressive of the Brighton boardwalk, rusted and raw metalwork, and lighting elements inspired from French cruise-liners all give an authenticity to the Brighton location. Artwork uses a clever mix of seaside references, including the triptych at the “Captains tables” which feature contemporary captains such as Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Kirk.
