The Oaksmere Hotel
SUFFOLK • UNITED KINGDOM
A new build extension and renovation of a historic Tudor and Victorian building, set in the heart of farm country in an area inspired by Constable and Gainsborough. The hotel includes a new hotel lobby, restaurant, lounge, two private dining rooms and a small pub. The new build conservatory dining area will feature authentic farm to table dining, making it an environmentally aware project from the food to the FF&E; all of its produce, goods and furniture are sourced locally.
With an on-site abattoir , the design references the machinery and tools of the abattoir while keeping the elegance and sophistication of a proper conservatory. Bespoke chandelier globes are hung from meat hooks with chicken wire encased globes, farmhouse machinery serves as planters for many of the planting, and artwork is a mix of farm inspired reclaimed objects or contemporary twists on Constable paintings. Flooring is locally sourced reclaimed oak with glazed brick insets.
